San Mauro Spa becomes a benefit company, CEO Acconci: “A natural act”

“A formal recognition of an entrepreneurial identity that we have built step by step”. Marina Acconci, CEO of San Mauro Spa , on the occasion of the conference “San Mauro Spa Società Benefit and Luna Blu, a concrete experience of business and social inclusion” , held at the Brugnato 5Terre Outlet Village , explains that the transition to a benefit company is the culmination of a journey built over time. “We are convinced that business must be a tool for shared development, not only economic but also social and cultural. This is what guides us today and will continue to guide us tomorrow. Our commitment has always been focused on listening to the needs of the community and building a constant dialogue with the territory”.

The goals achieved

The company promoting the Val di Vara outlet has achieved several goals, even on an international scale. Among these, the Brugnato Outlet Village was included by the European Outlet Industry Review 2025 among the top five in Europe for growth . An economic performance that is accompanied by the measurement of the social impact: the outlet represents an employment hub in an area at risk of depopulation. The staff is overwhelmingly female: 85% of workers are women. Half come from the municipalities of the valley. The company focuses on the continuous training of its employees or for those who want to approach the world of fashion retail, with programs dedicated to retail empowerment, for which approximately 200 thousand euros have been invested in ten years.

Including people with disabilities . This is the goal of one of the projects that have marked the path of San Mauro Spa towards the finish line. It is the collaboration with the Foundation "Il Domani dell'Autismo". A synergy that has allowed the birth of a restaurant in the heart of the Brugnato Outlet Village, Luna Blu , the first in Italy managed by children with autism within a retail context , which was later joined by a pizzeria and a fry shop. A project made possible also thanks to the Municipality of Brugnato , which supported the association in the purchase of a house in the village to offer hospitality and logistical support to young people and operators, and to the collaboration of the Foundation "Aut Aut" , which contributed to the development of the training and management model of the activities.

In short, becoming a benefit company is a “natural act” , which “further strengthens our mission: to be a company in a conscious, inclusive and value-generating way for all stakeholders, internal and external. The future we imagine is made of solid bonds, real inclusion and shared growth”, concludes the CEO.
